Let me give you some background information on me before I begin...
So I just graduated with my Bachelor's in ESE and Elementary Education. I also have my Reading Endorsement and a TESOL Endorsement that my program offers all together. It was an excellent program that really prepped me for this position... I think. I was offered a Resource Room position in a K-5 setting. For my student teaching internship, I was in the same position so I have some experience with this. However, I am overwhelmed with setting up the scheduling for my students, what resources to use, and how to set up some things in my room. This is my first teaching position and I just want to make sure all my student's needs are met. Last year the ESE specialist worked part time as the resource room teacher, so I am looking forward to sitting with her and working on the schedule together.
Now that you have some background information on where I am at I would like to show you what I walked into today!!!
This is what it looked like just after I unpacked my car! The custodian is removing all the desks for me and replacing it with table since I will be working in small groups. My boyfriend and best friend helped me rip down and old bulletin boards and we got new ones up! I am so excited about the decorating and organizing aspect part of setting up.
My next big tackle is setting up folders to give to the general education teachers that have my students in their class. The folder will be returned at the end of each quarter and all include the student's IEP, their goal sheet (I will have my own goal sheet but this is for the teacher to fill out and bring to any meetings to show progress in the gen. ed. setting.), IEP expiration date, and a letter introducing myself and explaining the folder. I will post these as I finish them so be on the look out!
